Mr. Shafiqul Islam Khan is a research-background Economist and Retired Banker by profession, with extensive exposure to both Commercial (Local & Foreign) and Islamic Banking, spanning 32 years in the Banking Sector of Bangladesh. He completed his Master’s in Economics with Honors from the University of Dhaka. He represents a unique commensuration, supplementing the Banking Profession, Expertise, and Career Path Progression vis-à-vis the overall Economy of Bangladesh and across the Globe. He is the Financial Advisor (Honorary) of ACI Group.

Prior to joining the banking service, Mr. Khan served as a “Senior Research Officer” associated with “Rural Finance Experimental Project (RFEP)”, a renowned joint venture project of Proggani Consultants Ltd. Subsequently Mr. Khan joined Petrobangla (Bangladesh Oil and Gas Corporation) as an “Economist” and derived expertise till switching to Bank of Credit & Commerce International Overseas Ltd. (July’1981 – Sept’1992), Eastern Bank Ltd. (Oct’1992-May’2002), Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. (Jun’2002-Jan’2004), Mercantile Bank Ltd. (Feb’2004-Oct’2005), Premier Bank Ltd. (Nov’2005-Feb’2006) and Banco Finance & Investment Ltd. (Jan’2013). Furthermore, Mr. Khan has obtained various Local & Foreign Professional Training.

Mr. Khan is presently holding a position of (i) Vice President of Dhanmondi Residential Area Rate Payers Association; (ii) a Life Member of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA); (iii) Executive Member of “DU Economics, 76, Foundation (M.A Batch-1976); (iv) “Executive Committee Member” of Dhaka University Economics Department Alumni Association (DUEDAA); (v) Permanent Member (PM) of Dhanmondi Club Ltd., etc.

 Mr. Shafiqul Islam Khan is a member of Audit Committee, Risk Management Committee and Claims Committee of the Board of Directors of Pioneer Insurance PLC.
